Mini Music Kids

Ages 3 to 7

BEGINNER BAND – For music kids that understand basic concepts, simple techniques, and are able to successfully navigate straight forward music.

MUSIC MENTORED BAND– One adult is permitted to accompany band members of this age group. To find out more about how to Mentor a band visit our Rules page.

BEGINNER VOCALIST – Have studied and performed for a very short while and may tend to go flat or sharp often. They are able to sing in tune and in rhythm but are not yet consistent and have a limited range.

BEGINNER VOCAL INSTRUMENTALIST – Music kids competing in this solo category are able to sing and accompany themselves with an instrument while performing very simple songs. Typical instruments for this category include piano, guitar, and ukulele.

Junior Music Kids

Ages 8 to 13

BEGINNER BAND– Members understand basic concepts, simple techniques, and can navigate straightforward music.

INTERMEDIATE BAND – Players are knowledgeable, can grasp difficult techniques with practice.

ADVANCED BAND– Competent musicians, knowledgeable, and easily grasp difficult techniques.

BEGINNER VOCALISTS –  Studied and performed for only a short while and may tend to go flat or sharp often. Are able to sing in tune and in rhythm but are not consistent and range is limited. 

INTERMEDIATE VOCALISTS –  Consistent but sing slightly flat or sharp ever so often. Tone is pleasing, they use dynamics, and sound good for the style they sing.  Able to create a crescendo, decrescendo, falsetto and can add vibrato here and there.

 ADVANCED VOCALISTS – Studied and performed for many years, consistent, and can hit the notes required. Performances seem effortless and they do not struggle to create a crescendo, decrescendo, falsetto, or vibrato.
